One year later...

I started blogging one year ago today.  When I started I had no idea how much I would love it and how much time it would take to get a few words and pics out a couple of times a week.  My hat is off to the bloggers who manage a post every day, I can only wish for that sort of organisation ;-).

So staying true to my complete disorganisation there is a giveaway coming soon to say thanks for reading my many moans and making me happy with your comments!

For my last post of 2012, I looked through all my makes and picked my faves to share with you.

The Quilts:

 The Cushions:

Everything else:

and then my all time fave of the year - the Perv quilt!

I have had such a cool year.  Joining the LMQG and getting to hang out with some very cool people, going to the FQR and getting to meet some of my fave blogger's and being inspired by both!

Here is to an equally cool 2013 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Playing shop assistant (Warning - PIC heavy!)

I had a great day yesterday playing shop at Annie's.  The shop is absolutely gorgeous and it was fantastic being able to see all the fabrics in real life.  It was equally fantastic getting to spend the day with Annie, Pennie and Charlotte.  I took a few pics to share with you...

The shop window - look at those curtains LOVE!

The slightly more useful shop assistants!

Well maybe not, how many quilters does it take to work out pattern measurements!?!

I should have added bubble text for each of them!
Look at all the pretty haberdashery and wool, I was almost tempted to take up knitting!

The day was filled with laughter and a little bit of arguing over who got to chose the Kona colours for a rainbow bundle.  All I am saying is you rarely see me arguing with Charlotte over Denyse fabrics - nough said!!!! ;-)
Kona bundle - soon to be on the website!
I did do a little shopping while I was there, I mean it would have been rude not too really.  I even put my own card through the credit card machine.

I bought some Fq's, perle and webbing for my stash.  Annie stocks the sturdy, non floppy webbing you can normally only get from America.  It is brilliant for bag handles and making key fobs.

A Simply Colour charm pack, which is already being turned into hexies...

And then I got some gorgeous pressies from Pennie.  I know I am gushing now but seriously, could my day have got any better!!
How cool is the bag!
and some Lu Summers tape, which is very handy as the kid has used all my sellotape up sticking buzz to the banister!

All in all a brilliant day!  Next time you are in London get yourself over to West Hampstead, I promise it will be a worthy journey.

Don't forget to enter the LMQG giveaway if you haven't already.  I am extending the close time for a few hours till 8pm!

Public Service announcement!

I am pretty sure that you have heard that the lovely Annie from The Village Haberdashery is opening a bricks and Mortar shop in West Hampstead.  I am also pretty sure you have seen the amazing pics of the sneak peaks floating around Blogland and the fact that Annie is having a Open weekend, this weekend!

Now if knowing all that and seeing the beautiful pics hasn't tempted you enough to come along on the 15th/16th, knowing that if you pitch up on Sunday you will get to meet me and Pennie should seal the deal! ;-)

What: The Village Haberdashery open weekend!
Date and time: Saturday 15th December from 11 to 7, and Sunday 16th December from 11 – 5
Location: 47 Mill Lane, West Hampstead, London NW6 1NB
Couldn't resist showing the pics, I really want those jars of perle!

A little more Christmas crafting...

I may have been absent in my blogging/commenting for the last few weeks but I have been beavering away in the background to get all my Christmas presents made.  Okay so no stone throwing but I completed that task this morning *ducks behind sofa to avoid any projectiles*

This morning I took myself and the kidlet off to our local park to get some pics and have a play on the swings (me not the kidlet!)

I made this Polaroid cushion using some of the Polaroid blocks from the Say Cheese! Polaroid swap organised by the lovely Kristy.  Using the different Kona's for the background was inspired by this quilt.

My second cushion used the embroidery I stitched up in Aneela's class back in September.  It took me ages to decide how to finish this, but in the end I went with simple borders and quilted it in a style from Aneela's book.

My final Christmas cushion is a scrappy rainbow made for a very good friend of mine, I hope it puts a smile on her face!

So that was the cushions done, I just needed to make a few Kindle cases for family member's, including one for me!  I bet you can't guess which one is mine ;-)

A little Echino, text, linen and new Melody - Bliss!
The reason why my blogging/reading/commenting has been up the spout is due to big changes workwise for me.  I mentioned the big interview a few weeks ago, but after talks at work I decided to stay where I was.  I then had to prepare to present an audit that I had been working on for 18 months at a Clinical audit day.  This thing was so big, I had three huge projectors across the room - scary!!!  I don't remember any of the actual presentation, but I must have done okay because I won 1st prize. £50 in JL vouchers and I do believe they sell fabric there - WOO HOO!

Right I am off to catch up with all my blog reading!

SMS Winner!
